Rory Douglas Speed: Seeing clearly for the first time with Omnipod® 5

Hello, it’s Rory*!

*Rory is a Sponsored Podder® and paid a fee for his contributions

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 8 years old and have spent most of my life navigating the daily demands of managing diabetes. For years, that meant injecting insulin multiple times a day, but recently, I made the transition to the Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System, and the impact has been transformational.

I want to share my story to let others know the amazing benefits when the right technology meets real life; bringing greater freedom, confidence, and a new perspective to living with type 1 diabetes.

How Omnipod Fits in My Life:

Peace of Mind

One of the biggest things is knowing the automated insulin delivery will take care of my levels overnight. I no longer wake up due to high or low glucose levels. Better sleep = way more clarity and presence.

Less Decisions

I know once my Pod is on, I can think less about injections, less about the maths, less about what insulin is already on board. The system does most of this for me. Game-changing!

Diabetes Get Smaller

I spend much less time thinking about my diabetes so I can focus more on other aspects of life – family, the gym, work – it’s all at the forefront instead of my diabetes now that Omnipod is sharing the load.

“I’ve been walking through this cloud for almost 20 years – and I had no idea it was even there – until I moved onto Omnipod 5.”

My top 3 things about Omnipod 5:

  • Simplicity it brings - it feels like I don’t have to do as much diabetes admin anymore
  • Freedom - because I'm doing less diabetes admin, I have more freedom to be me
  • It makes diabetes visible - yes, you can hide the Pod under clothing if you want to, but I love to wear my Pod loud and proud.
