The Omnipod 5 System is now integrated with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor!  With this new sensor integration, users will benefit from tubeless automated insulin delivery along with the convenience of a 15-day wear CGM sensor, and the ability to start, deactivate, and view sensor glucose data directly from the Omnipod 5 Controller.

How to Prescribe Omnipod 5 with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor

New Users

For your patients on multiple daily injections or a tubed pump, prescribe the compatible Omnipod 5 Intro Kit and Pods directly to ASPN Pharmacies.

  1. Send both Intro Kit & Refill Pods to ASPN Pharmacies’ New Jersey location (reference Rx details).
  2. ASPN will verify coverage and ensure your patient receives Pods that are compatible with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor.
Customers with insurance plans requiring local pickup will be unable to be processed by ASPN (including Medicaid insured customers). Please contact customer care for assistance.

Note: The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor requires a separate prescription and is necessary to use Omnipod 5 in Automated Mode.

For Existing Omnipod 5 Users:

Patients who are already using Omnipod 5 and are interested in using a Pod compatible with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor should contact the Omnipod Customer Care team at 1-800-591-3455, option 2.

Customer Care will review coverage, availability, and options for your patients on Omnipod 5, and, if needed, will reach out to you with next steps. ASPN will not be able to check coverage or availability of Pods compatible with the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor for patients currently on Omnipod 5.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor is prescribed separately and available through all major retail pharmacies and cannot be processed by ASPN.

For your patients currently using a FreeStyle Libre Sensor who are interested in Omnipod 5, it is important that they start on a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor. Omnipod 5 is NOT compatible with FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3, or FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensors.
