Kelly Kunik is a Diabetes Advocate, Myth-buster, Writer, Speaker and Consultant with decades of living with type 1 diabetes under her belt.
She comes from a family where 4 out of 8 immediate family members had type 1 diabetes, as did two aunts, 2 cousins, and her nephew. Several immediate and extended family members were also diagnosed with T2D.
Kelly lost her older sister Debbie to type 1 diabetes in 1991, at the age of 34 — changing the dynamics of her family forever.
Taking her biggest perceived weakness, (her busted pancreas), Kelly turned it into her biggest strength and greatest passion!
She launched her diabetes blog, Diabetesaliciousness in 2007 in the hopes of busting diabetes myths while spreading diabetes validation through humor, ownership, advocacy — and with the hopes of empowering others to live their best lives with diabetes.
Kunik’s blog has earned well over 2.1 million views and has been recognized by Healthline as one of the top diabetes blogs.
Kelly has written for multiple diabetes and health publications (both online and off), is a noted Diabetes/Health Speaker and Panelist, consults for a myriad of companies and orgs, and sits on a number of Advisory and Editorial boards.
