We’re excited to share an update on the two newest additions to the Omnipod 5 Platform: Omnipod 5 integrated with Dexcom G7 and Omnipod 5 App for iPhone compatible with Dexcom G6.
Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G7
Complete the free over the air update on your Controller or compatible smartphone starting July 30. For more details, we've outlined the plan below.
- Accept the Omnipod 5 App Software Update
- The Omnipod 5 App v3.0.1 is available starting July 30 for Android compatible smartphones and Insulet provided Controllers.
- This update will add the option to pair a Dexcom G6 or G7 with a compatible Pod.
- Continue using your Dexcom G6 supplies
- Continue using your G6 supplies until you see “Compatible with Dexcom G7” on your Pod refill box. To provide the best access and insurance coverage, the new Omnipod 5 Pods do not require a new prescription.
- You will receive Pods that are compatible with Dexcom G6/G7 through your current pharmacy refills as early as August, with full availability expected this fall.
- You can switch CGMs once you have compatible Pods
- Wait to get the Dexcom G7 prescription from your doctor until you start to see compatible Pods in your refills.
- Once you have Dexcom G7, you can switch CGM models at your next Pod change.

iPhone control with Dexcom G6
The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone is in Limited Market Release. We will continue to update you as iPhone control becomes more broadly available.
The first version of the App will integrate with the Dexcom G6 only.
If you prefer iPhone control, stay on Dexcom G6.
