Omnipod 5 Controller

Your Controller will receive an Operating System update with background performance enhancements. There are no visual changes.

The Operating System update only affects the Omnipod 5 Insulet-provided Controllers. If you are a compatible smartphone user, updating your Controller from time to time is important for maintaining it as a backup device. However, you do not need to do this immediately. We recommend powering on your Controller and following the on-screen prompts to install any available updates. Depending on the last time you updated your Controller, you may be prompted to complete several software updates. Upon completion you can power off your device.

You will receive a notification on the screen when the update is ready to install. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. It is important to ensure you have adequate battery levels and strong Wi-Fi connection prior to accepting the update. Your Controller battery level must be above 40%, or above 20% if your device is actively charging.

If you are ready to install the update you can select 'Update Now'. If you are not ready to install the update you can select 'Not Now' and update at a time convenient to you.

You will not have access to the Omnipod® 5 App on your Controller, including the ability to bolus, while the update is installing. Normal use of the Omnipod® 5 App will resume upon completion of the update. Basal insulin will continue to deliver in the background.

We always recommend installing updates available to you as soon as you are able to ensure you have the latest software and features.

When the update is available a notification will present on the screen and you will have the option to install at that time or delay the update.

If you are not ready to install the update you can select 'Not Now' and update at a time convenient to you.

Please note each time you select 'Not Now' a notification will reappear after 72 hours until the update is successfully installed.

If you chose 'Not Now' you can manually update at any time.

1. Navigate to the home screen
2. Tap the notification bell
3. Tap the update notification
4. Tap ‘Update Now’

Simply follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

For an optimal user experience when an update becomes available you have the option to select 'Update Now' or 'Not Now' and install the update at a time most convenient to you.

With time, to ensure you are using the latest software, an update may become required. We always recommend updating as soon as you are able and not waiting for the required update.

To manually update now:

1. Navigate to the home screen
2. Tap the notification bell
3. Tap the update notification
4. Tap 'Update Now'

It is important to ensure you have adequate battery levels and strong Wi-Fi connection prior to accepting the update. Your Controller battery level must be above 40%, or above 20% if your device is actively charging.

If you have already installed the Operating System update you do not need to take any additional action.

To check if you have installed the Operating System update:

1. Navigate to the home screen
2. Tap the notification bell

Any available updates will appear in the notification list.

What will happen if I do not install the Operating System update before it becomes required?

If you have not installed the update before it becoming required, you will no longer be able to postpone your next update notification.

A notification will appear on the Controller screen with the Operating System is ready to install. You will only be able to tap 'Update Now'.

Until you have installed the update you will not be able to navigate within the Omnipod 5 App on your Controller, including the ability to bolus. Basal insulin delivery will continue to deliver in the background.

When an update becomes required, it may take several days from the specified date to appear on your Controller screen depending on when you last selected 'Not Now' on your update notification.

You will receive a notification on the screen when the required update is ready to install. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

You will not have access to the Omnipod® 5 App on your Controller, including the ability to bolus, until the update is complete. Normal use of the Omnipod® 5 App will resume upon completion of the update. Basal insulin will continue to deliver in the background.

It is important to ensure you have adequate battery levels and strong connection prior to accepting the update. Your Controller battery level must be above 40%, or above 20% if your device is actively charging.

The update should take a few minutes depending on your connectivity. It could take longer to install the update with a weak connection.

If you install the Operating System update before it becomes required, you will need to be connected to Wi-Fi to install the update.

If you install it as a required update, you do not need to be connected to Wi-Fi. However, we recommend connecting to Wi-Fi or ensuring you have a strong data connection.

Your Controller battery level must be above 40% to install the update, or above 20% if your device is actively charging.

The update will not change your adaptive basal rate or impact insulin delivery settings.

The update will not require you to change your Pod or Dexcom G6 sensor.

You do not need to pause insulin delivery or adjust insulin delivery settings to install the update. The Controller will not update while a bolus is being delivered. Basal insulin will continue to deliver in the background. Normal use will resume upon completion of the update.
