We are delighted to hear that the Omnipod^® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System has been approved by the TGA.

This is the first step towards making the Omnipod^® 5 system available to the Australian type 1 diabetes community. There are several steps involved around commercial readiness, including finalising the cloud infrastructure and securing the access pathway for Australian customers.

We are excited to bring this technology to you and the Australian type 1 diabetes community and will provide you with updates as we approach launch.

Insulet will provide a transition pathway to Omnipod^® 5 for you whether you are a new or existing Omnipod^® user, more information to follow.

What is the Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System?

The Omnipod^® 5 is Australia’s first tubeless, automated and waterproof* insulin delivery system. Automated insulin delivery is available when used with a compatible Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). The exclusive SmartAdjust™ technology automatically adjusts your basal insulin every five minutes based on your CGM readings, helping to protect you against highs and lows by improving time in range, day and night*.

*When used in automatic mode with a compatible CGM, the Omnipod 5 System makes adjustments to insulin delivery every 5 minutes based on the user's current CGM value, glucose values predicted 60 minutes in the future, glucose trend, and past insulin delivery to bring glucose to a user defined target.
