We recently started a Limited Market Release for the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone so that the company can incorporate learnings to deliver a best-in-class product experience. Upon completion, we will communicate when we expect this App to be broadly available.

Insulet has received clearance from the FDA for promotion and commercialization of the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone in the United States. The product is not yet available. We expect to begin a Limited Market Release in early summer 2024 and upon completion we will communicate when we expect this App to be broadly available. We have completed recruitment for the Limited Market Release. In order to bring this exciting and highly anticipated innovation to you as quickly as possible, individual requests cannot be accommodated. We appreciate your understanding.

We will communicate to Omnipod® 5 users and HCPs when the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone is commercially available. 

At the time of launch the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone will be compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM.

The Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone will first be compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM. While we cannot disclose future innovation timelines, now that the launch of Omnipod 5 with the Dexcom G7 CGM is underway, we are actively working to innovate our Omnipod 5 App for iPhone to be compatible with the Dexcom G7 CGM. When the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone was developed and submitted to the FDA for clearance, the Omnipod 5 System was integrated with the Dexcom G6 CGM. In order to bring this highly anticipated innovation to the community as quickly as possible it will first be compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM.

We know the diabetes community has been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone, and how excited everyone is to eliminate the need to carry a second device. It’s incredibly important to us to provide products that make it easier for our Podders to live with diabetes. The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone is brand new software that has been developed specifically for iPhone users and we have also taken the opportunity to provide new product capabilities. We're working hard to deliver a best-in-class experience with safety, security and conveniece in mind. We looking forward to bringing this innovation to the diabetes community later this year.

If your patients get started on Omnipod® 5 using an Insulet provided Controller or compatible Android smartphone, they can download the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone when available. They will need to transfer their settings and will re-start adaptivity when changing devices. We will share more information to ensure a smooth transition when it is commercially available.

Omnipod® 5 users who transition from an Android device or an Insulet provided Controller will notice that the user interface is different due to the differences in operating systems. The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone also offers a Custom Foods feature to save carbohydrate content about favorite foods, snacks or meals eaten frequently. We will share more information when the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone is commercially available.

The Custom Foods feature on the Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone allows users to save carbohydrate information for favorite foods, meals and snacks eaten frequently and select from this list when bolusing for meals using the SmartBolus Calculator.

The Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone is being tested for compatibility with a range of iPhone models that run on iOS 17. We will share a final compatibility list when the product is commercially available. The Omnipod® 5 App for iPhone does not require a separate prescription. Existing Omnipod 5 users will be able to download the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone from the App Store. They will need to transfer their settings which will restart adaptivity. We will share more information to ensure a smooth transition when it is commercially available.

New patients will require a prescription for Omnipod 5 and will complete the standard onboarding and training process.

Current Omnipod® 5 users will continue to use their Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G6 Pods when the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone is available.

Yes, adaptivity will restart when users switch from the Omnipod® 5 Controller or compatible Android smartphone to the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone. We will share more information to ensure a smooth transition when it is commercially available.
